Two Different Cultures - Consulting Versus Tech
Also - Blackstone Mint Program, Sitreps Fireside Chat on Tech Sales, Jobs on the Sitreps Job Board and upcoming Emory events
Hello Weekly Sitreps Readers!
We are back for our first official weekly sitrep of the new year! If you have been following the stories on my instagram account then I am sure you saw that it was recently my birthday and I spent it in Las Vegas! I have not been back to Vegas in over 10 years, so it was fun to go back and see how much the city has grown. A bunch of my friends came to celebrate, and it was a lot of fun to revel in some of the best dinners and shows the strip had to offer. On Thursday we did TAO for dinner then nightclub, on Friday we did a show at the Sphere, then gambling and then MayFair Supper Club and Caesars nightclub. Finally on Saturday we did Carbone at Aria and then the Jewel nightclub.
We got back in Austin late on Sunday, and on Monday I settled in for a dual MLK/Presidential inauguration day off. With the country now heading into Trump 2.0 I was fully prepared for a wacky and hilarious inauguration day and it did not disappoint. From the trump coin drop and rug pull, to the village people and the tech lords at the inauguration, it was absolutely on fire to watch. This is going to be an interesting next 4 years and it will hopefully be a blast to meme.
For this weekly Sitrep I wanted to talk about the culture differences that I have observed between Tech and Consulting. I have spent about equal time in both industries now and I wanted to give some useful context for those who are considering between the two.
We also have a upcoming Sitreps Fireside chat on tech sales - this will not be recorded to allow for candid conversation, so be sure to attend!
Sitreps Job Postings!
We have 21 high paying jobs posted on our Sitreps Job Board. The majority of these jobs are in defense tech, though we do have a few General Manager roles across different industries. Please apply, and if we think there is a good match we will reach out! JOBS BOARD HERE.
Blackstone 2025 Mint Program - Apply Here
I’ve had a lot of people tell me this, but the Blackstone MINT program offers separating active-duty military veterans support and training to help them successfully transition to careers in the private sector. I have posted the program opportunity in the past few years, and I’ve had a fair number of people reach out and tell me they got into banking and private equity through this program. Their 2024 class included 20 MINTs working across 12 business units and 2 portfolio companies.
Now in its 12th year, MINT is the flagship program of the Blackstone Veterans Network, recognized as a first-of-its kind success in the finance industry.
Because I have driven so many candidates to the program, the folks at Blackstone reached out to me and asked if I would share the latest info for it. So here is the info below.

Culture Shift - The Difference in Cultures Between Consulting and Tech
From my foxhole – the difference between consulting and working in tech
I have been working at a big tech company for almost three years now and I was thinking the other day about how different my life is than when I was a consultant. I frequently get questions about what consulting culture or big tech culture is like, so I thought it might be good to offer my perspective on how the two are different in both good ways and bad.
